Shakuhachi Lesson Offerings

Lessons are based on the traditional style of teaching in the Kinko Ryu. Students will engage deeply with the ensemble tradition of the “Sankyoku” chamber music. Special emphasis is given to understanding the vocabulary of the shakuhachi in this context. Advanced students will be taught Honkyoku in the Kinko style. Shakuhachi lessons are generally taught in an imitative way with the student gradually and intuitively understanding how the music and instrument works.
